Art Jakarta 2026: A Year-Round Platform for Contemporary Art

Art Jakarta returns to JIExpo Kemayoran from 2–4 October 2026, bringing together 75 galleries in what has become one of Indonesia’s key annual gatherings for contemporary art. More than half of this year’s exhibitors are Indonesian, alongside 33 international galleries, including 19 participating in the fair for the first time.

The 2026 edition arrives within a broader expansion of the Art Jakarta programme. Beginning this year, the organisation presents three distinct events annually: Art Jakarta Papers, Art Jakarta Gardens and the International Art Fair. Each has its own focus, while the wider programme aims to connect artists, galleries, collectors and other stakeholders across Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

At JIExpo, established sections return alongside the new SCOPE programme. SPOT moves beyond the conventional booth format through larger-scale and spatial presentations, while SCENE brings together 39 artist collectives and collaborative projects from cities across Indonesia. AJX continues its international and institutional collaborations, including Korea Focus and a presentation by Natta-Cita Art Space from ISI Bali, bringing Balinese contemporary artist-academics to the fair.

With its combination of Indonesian and international galleries, regional collaborations and emerging art communities, Art Jakarta 2026 reflects an increasingly interconnected contemporary art ecosystem, while continuing to position Jakarta as a meeting point for artistic exchange in Southeast Asia.
