Artist Statement

My art is centered on the themes of nature, memory, and introspection. For me, painting is not an escape or an attempt at erasure but rather a way to reach back and reshape memories in a way that celebrates life.

Growing up in a family where the human body was seen as a liability and figurative art was practically banned for religious reasons may have fuelled my obsession with abstracts. Figurative elements, though, always manage to find their way into my art.

My abstracts often feature bright colors as well as giant curves inspired by the human body and things found in nature.

Artist Biography

Kendisan studied Film at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD, 2011), where she continued to nurture her love for drawing, painting, and storytelling.

In 2024, she was a finalist in the 14th UOB Painting of the Year Exhibition in the Emerging Artist category.

Her art has been exhibited in Jakarta and Bali, where she now lives.
