Biji World, a diversified global company located in Ubud, held its official opening event for its new art space called “Biji Art Space” on March 31, 2024. Located inside Biji World on Jalan Raya Mas, Biji Art Space is a two-storey art space building with a contemporary and minimalist approach. The combination of the two architectural styles bring a fresh and modern setting to the art scene in Ubud.
About 8 artists, local and foreign, were featured in the inaugural exhibition, including Fajar Kadafi, Neha Ghai, Putu Eni Astiarini, Gede Sayur, Sara Hadi, Joko Supriyono, Linkan Palenewen, and Awan Yozeffani. Their artworks form a variety of styles and mediums that resonate with this newly built art space.
Hosted by the event curator and TiTian Bali Foundation founder Soemantri Widagdo, the night began with an artist talk featuring 4 of the exhibiting artists. The panel made up of artists Fajar Kadafi, Linkan Palenewen, Awan Yozeffani, and Joko Supriyono, were challenged by Mr Widagdo.
The impromptu question provided some insightful and entertaining responses from the artists and really succeeded in creating a connection with the audience.
Following the talk, a contemporary dance by Ayu Anantha, the founder of Kerta Art, was performed, mesmerizing the audience and signaling the official opening of the event.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening of Biji Art Space and its first exhibition. The audience eagerly explored every corner of the space, immersing themselves in the captivating artwork and mingling with one another. Among the audience, friends and family of the artists showed up to support them. This occasion provided an opportunity to connect people in Bali's art industry and facilitated a potential collaboration within the art scene in Bali.
