I approach my art much like jazz improvisation, drawing from my background as a jazz musician and composer. My work reflects an interplay of materials and textures, using a variety of mediums including marker, ink, acrylic, cement, and cardboard to create a rich sensory experience.
Inspired by human, nature and the animal kingdom, my art captures the rhythms and harmonies of the world around me and seeks to find a common ground between music and visual art.
I was born in Jakarta, raised by parents with a passion for the arts. From 1981 to 1996, I participated in competitions, workshops, and seminars for students, and worked alongside my father, who was educated at the Indonesian Academy of Fine Arts (ASRI, now ISI), to create ads as well as film posters by hand. In 1999, I pursued a one-year diploma in Western Music at ANIMA Musik, Yogyakarta. In 2000-2026, I studied music at ISI
Yogyakarta, specializing in music pedagogy for teenagers.
While studying music in Yogyakarta, I was constantly inspired by my social circle, made up of students at ISI’s fine arts department.
Since moving to Bali in 2007, I have released six solo albums and two singles. Besides making art, I compose, perform, and teach music.
