Artist Statement

I am Vitri, a Jimbaran-based mixed media artist specializing in figurative abstract expressionism. As an unapologetic autodidact, my canvases are a raw and unfiltered dialogue with my personal healing journey, particularly my experience with bipolar disorder. My technique involves translating deep, complex emotions into visceral color fields and expressive forms. My goal is to create work that is intensely personal, yet serves as a universally resonant space where viewers can confront and embrace the beautiful, messy truth of being human.

Artist Biography

Vitri (b. 1988, West Java) is a mixed media painter based in Jimbaran, Bali. Her professional journey is marked by an entrepreneurial spirit, moving from her early career as a radio broadcaster to becoming a real estate agent on the island. This foundation in sales and design led her to successfully design, build, and host her own villa on Airbnb. Now settled with her husband and two young children, she dedicates her time to her self-taught art practice. Vitri’s work is profoundly influenced by the aesthetic language of ancient cultures and the organic forms of nature, translating the elemental shapes of artifacts into powerful, evocative figurative abstracts.
