God created me as an artist until I die, I will be an artist.
Born and raised in Java, Hamka always knew what he wanted to do with his life. As an artist who never underwent formal art education, he never perceived it is a weakness. Instead, young Hamka chose a dynamic artistic journey through the people he encountered in life. Starting his artistic journey early, Hamka selected Bali as the destination for his development. Learning from many artist he met, getting to know those around him, and eventually having the opportunity to exhibit here an there - a glimpse into Hamka's life journey as an artist. According to him, art is a feeling created through every stroke and color choice. Undeniably, his journey encountering the beauty of neon colors has become an exploration of its own.
Anyone familiar with Hamka might say the realism in his trademark. However, beyond that, Hamka believes he can present realism in abstract form, providing a unique perspective that adds more meaning to realism itself. Through his works, Hamka conveys many imaginative, elusive, and aspirational aspects to the world. Through his artworks, anyone is free to interpret what he intends to convey.
