Artist Statement

I compose figurative aesthetics with techniques inspired by traditional Balinese art, graffiti and the timeless masters of the east and west. Sometimes turbulent and sometimes transcendent I allow my works to evolve from epiphany, revelation, mythology or an intention to explore identity and spirituality in a modern world.

Artist Biography

Gede’s work re-evaluates the idea of the extraordinary and the undiscovered, honouring the traditional but also embracing the modern.

His art is influenced by his mixed Balinese/German heritage and troubled past to venture into themes of self, identity, heritage and fluidity that is possible between them in search of a single unifying factor. Executed with delicacy and intricacy but always with underlying intensity, his works have an undeniable presence to them.

Working across traditional and digital mediums, Gede exhibits both physical artworks and NFTs (digital art). His works have been shown in Australia (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne), Bali and Germany.
